Student Finance and Funding
- Scotland
-
Students who ordinarily live in Scotland can apply to SAAS for funding during their studies. SAAS pay tuition fees for Scottish students, meaning students do not pay tuition fees themselves. You can also apply for living costs loans and bursaries to cover your day-to-day expenses are a student. There are also great videos on SAAS's YouTube account about applying for student finance.
The University of Aberdeen is delighted to be able to offer a year's free accommodation to new undergraduate students from a SIMD20 (Quintile 1) home postcode*. This offer applies to students starting at the University in September 2025.
*Please note that eligibility criteria apply in order to receive this offer.
- England, Wales and Northern Ireland
-
Students from England, Wales, and Northern Ireland can apply to Student Finance in their home country and can receive tuition fee loans, maintenance loans and (in Wales and Northern Ireland) maintenance grants. Maintenance support helps students to pay for their day-to-day costs and usually depends on your household income.
- Republic of Ireland
-
Students from Republic of Ireland can apply to Students Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) to receive tuition fee loans*. SUSI support may also be available from the Irish government.
*T's and C's Apply
- Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
-
Students from the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands apply direct to the government in their domicile for support with tuition fees and maintenance loans. Please check on local government webpages for more information on eligibility and funding.
