In this interdisciplinary group at the University of Aberdeen we collaborate to think about the challenges and opportunities associated with increasing lifespan. In particular, we are interested in the factors which promote well-being in later life. Age-related topics which have multidisciplinary interest across the University include: the importance of social connection in later life, the ageing workforce and the silver economy, and older adults’ engagement with digital technology for communication and health. Here in Aberdeen, we have unique high-quality cohort studies (such as the Aberdeen Children of the 1950s) which can address important questions about the ageing process and the links between health, well-being and social isolation.
