Current Research
I am investigating the extent to which UNESCO's Global Geopark designation aligns or conflicts with current cultural practices - folkore, dialect, traditional crafts, local laws - demonstrating how these practices are deeply connected to the way in which Shetlanders are implicated in their landscape. I argue that heritage and geology should not be viewed as separate categories, proposing an assemblage-based model to local heritage management bodies and policymakers.
