Biography
I am a trained global public health and nutrition academic researcher with around 15 years of experience in environmental, lifestyle and social aspects of health and health promotion research. I have conducted population health research in both high- and low-income settings such as UK, Colombia, Mexico and Nepal. I am experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. My research skills include transdisciplinary research, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, quantitative surveys, interviews, focus groups and ethnographic observation.
I am passionate about improving population health and well-being globally using transdisciplinary research methods and public engagement in research, driving health innovation and service transformation. I am Co-Principal investigator of the ImpACTT Project, which aims to improve assessment of child growth and nutrition status globally via the development of a novel child growth measurement device. Research Interest: Interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary research; social, lifestyle and environmental determinants of health particularly water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), air quality, malnutrition, food security, climate change, health inequality, child health and nutritional status, respiratory and cardiovascular health. I have published widely on various aspects of global health research including food security, nutrition, sustainable development, health inequality, communicable and non-communicable diseases, environmental health and household environment.
