The last 1000 years law have gone through three periods of large unrest, all linked to new communication technology. What can we learn from the use of written and printed communication of law to better understand and predict the consequences of digital communication, changing law and the legal system today? Using examples from Norwegian legal history the last 1000 years, Professor Jørn Øyrehagen Sunde at the University in Oslo will examine the complex process of change in law, the role of communication technology, and where we stand today in the third process of large legal change. The speech is based on Prof. Sunde’s book on the topic from 2023.
