Part of the School of Law LLM Development and Engagement Programme
Put your negotiation skills into practice in this interactive simulation based on a realistic legal scenario. Working in teams and taking on assigned roles, students will identify the interests of the parties, develop a negotiation strategy and work towards a mutually acceptable outcome.
The session will explore key negotiation skills, including preparation, active listening, effective questioning, persuasive communication, option-building and responding to offers and concessions. The simulation will be followed by a facilitated debrief, providing an opportunity to reflect on the different approaches taken, the challenges encountered and the factors that contributed to or prevented an agreement.
The simulation is open to all current LLM students, and no previous negotiation experience is required. Advance registration is essential.
