Our call for papers is now open! Our mission, as always, is to showcase the very best of work written by students at the University and publish a journal that reflects the breadth of the work that takes place here.
The Elphinstone Review offers a unique opportunity to be published in an academic journal as a student and collaborate with our editors. Not only is it an opportunity to publish the articles that were marked highly when submitted as part of your course, but also the articles which didn’t do as well as you hoped, but could reach their full potential through the help of our editors.
We always aim to publish a wide range of papers from across all disciplines that the University of Aberdeen has to offer, so we accept submissions on any topic. This inclusivity is a key aspect of our journal, and we encourage students from all fields to submit their work for consideration.
The deadline for submissions is midnight on Monday 26 January 2026. Articles should:
- Be less than 4000 words but more than 2000 (excluding footnotes and bibliography).
- Submitted in Word format, and your name should be included in the title of your document.
- Include referencing using the APA style format.
- Include an abstract if you want - but it is not necessary.
If you would like to submit a paper (or have any questions), please email it to our editorial team at elphinstone.review@abdn.ac.uk.
We look forward to reading your papers and wish you all the best with your studies!
