About

Biography

My passion for geology began in the Atacama Desert (northern Chile), where outcrops reveal diverse and complex deformation styles produced by long-lived subduction, and where frequent earthquakes remind us that the Earth is being shaped by active tectonic processes.

In 2019, I moved to Aberdeen to complete a PhD, where I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the study of how we reveal the subsurface structure using seismic reflection images. It was an enriching journey that helped me to gain expertise, confidence and expand my understanding, not only in how we interpret and analyse faults and fault systems in the subsurface, but also in other geodisciplines and, more importantly, in how geological knowledge is built.

After completing my PhD, I had the opportunity to continue contributing to research at the University of Aberdeen, now as a Research Fellow. I am continuing to develop my expertise and expand my knowledge, refining my skills and progressing towards research independence.
