Research Overview
My interests lie in all areas of human and animal energetics.
Current Research
I currently manage the Doubly Labelled Water Research Facility at the University of Aberdeen. We are happy to collaborate with other research groups to measure daily energy expenditure in free living humans and animals over a range of conditions. Please contact me if you wish more information.
One aspect of my research examines the impact of environmental conditions and social interactions on milk production in a Scottish dairy herd. This work is in collaboration with Mackies Dairy.
I currently collaborate on a range of projects measuring energy intake and expenditure in elite athletes, dietary nutrition surveys and nutrition studies. These include assessing the impact of fast food and sugar sweetened beverages on the development of obesity in children and adults.
