Biography
Professor Denison is a medical graduate of University of Aberdeen. He was awarded a personal chair (teaching & scholarship) in 2015 and was MBChB Programme Lead and Deputy Director of the Institute of Education in Medical and Dental Education from 2015 to 2019.
In 2019 he was appointed as Dean of Postgraduate Medicine, NHS Education for Scotland (NES). NES is a special health board that oversees the education and training of the workforce in the Scottish NHS, including over 6000 doctors in training programmes.
He remains clinically active as a Consultant Radiologist, NHS Grampian and contributes to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
In 2025 he was announced as the next Deputy Medical Director of the General Medical Council. He takes up this role in March 2026.
