BBC Singers success for PhD student, Gemma McGregor
Gemma McGregor, who is studying for a PhD in composition at the University of Aberdeen with Professor Paul Mealor and Dr Phillip Cooke, composed 'Egilsay Kirk' which is to be performed by the BBC Singers and Master of The Queen's Music, Professor Judith Weir CBE as part of Choir & Organ Magazine’s choral composition workshop.
The workshop, which is free of charge, and is open to composers and observers alike - will provide a unique insight into composition techniques for choirs, drawing on six of the scores submitted by composers studying composition at undergraduate and postgraduate level at a university or conservatoire.
BBC Singers senior producer, Michael Emery, said "we look forward to a really thoughtprovoking and interesing workshop."
This workshop takes place on Tuesday 1 September 2015 at BBC Maida Vale Studio 2, London W9,from 2-5pm. Sign up for a free ticket at www.rhinegold.co.uk/workshops
