Welcome to the conference site for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) UK & Ireland biennial branch conference to be hosted by the Department of Music, School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture, the University of Aberdeen, Monday 29th June to Wednesday 1st July 2026.

Conference dinner and social events
We will be hosting a conference dinner at The Atrium, 50 Chapel St at 7pm Tuesday June 30. You will have an option of a 2 (£27) or 3 (£32) course meal. To ensure your space at the dinner, please make your reservation at the time registering for the conference. The exact menu for the night will be available closer to the event taking place, however if you wish to get feel for the kind of food the restaurant serves, you can do so here. We will be able to cater to dietary requirements as needed (so please do let us know).
Additional social events will be announced in the coming weeks. This will include an event on the Monday evening, and we are currently exploring options for some events on Sunday afternoon/ evening for those arriving over the weekend. You will be asked to confirm your interest in additional events when you register.
Conference bags/ favours
In order to make this event more environmentally friendly, we have made the decision to forgo conference bags and will only be printing off a limited number of hardcopy programmes. As a conference favour you will have an option of either an insulated coffee tumbler, an insulated water bottle, or similar item.

The conference will be hosted at the university’s Old Aberdeen Campus.
There are a range of accommodation options available to you, including various Bed and Breakfasts which are situated along King Street:

These hotels all sit nearby bus routes which frequent the university on a regular basis. Please note, we are suggesting these as options for those unfamiliar with the city. We are not recommending them as preferred options, nor are we responsible for quality of the amenities they provide.
