- 7. What is the difference between MA (Hons) and BSc (Hons) degrees?
-
Both are four-year undergraduate honours degrees, but they differ in focus and approach. MA (Hons) programmes like Business Management and Economics emphasise theory, analysis, and broader contextual understanding in humanities and social sciences. BSc (Hons) programmes like Computing Science and Data Science focus on scientific methodology, technical skills, and practical applications in STEM fields. Both qualify you for postgraduate study and global careers.
- 8. Why are Aberdeen's undergraduate programmes four years instead of three?
-
Scottish undergraduate degrees follow a distinctive four-year honours structure that offers greater depth, flexibility, and breadth than three-year programmes. This additional year allows you to explore subjects beyond your main discipline, develop transferable skills, and specialise more deeply in your chosen field.
