Applications are invited for an independent and highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to join Prof Valerie Speirs group at the University of Aberdeen to work on a project “Predicting Response in Triple Negative Breast Cancer Using Machine Learning”. We seek to appoint a creative, experienced and motivated individual to use machine learning (ML) to identify why some patients with triple negative breast cancer experience early relapse while others don’t. This is a collaborative project involving Prof Joanne Edwards (University of Glasgow) and Prof Dr Jakob Kather (Technical University of Dresden). The post is funded by the Chief Scientist’s Office (CSO) of the Scottish Government and the successful candidate will spend 2 training blocks in Germany in the laboratory of Prof Dr Kather, a world leader in the application of ML to cancer.

The Sutherland lab, based at the University of Aberdeen, studies lung diseases at the interface between immunology and extracellular matrix biology. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, creative and experienced research fellow to be part of an exciting collaborative research programme studying IL-13 immune regulation of hyaluronan extracellular matrices during lung injury, repair and chronic pathology. This project will work closely alongside an established collaborative team at the University of Manchester and the University of Virginia and is supported by a Wellcome Discovery Award.
