About

Biography

Tekin is currently a Lecturer in Economics at University of Brighton and an Honorary Research Fellow at HERU. He joined HERU in February 2023 and worked for the Health Behaviour theme within HERU until September 2024. He is currently working on the analysis of data from the PACFiND project, which aims to improve healthcare services for patients with fibromyalgia. Tekin’s research interests fall into the fields of health economics, applied microeconomics, and gender economics. His research focuses on individual health outcomes and health behaviours, as well as gender differences in health and economic decision-making.

Tekin received his B.S. degree in 2006 and his M.S. degree in 2008 from the Department of Economics at Middle East Technical University. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh (PA, USA) in 2014. Prior to his current appointment, Tekin was a Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (WI, USA) and TED University (Ankara, Turkey), and then an Associate Professor at TED University.
