Available Places
Although we do not offer a guarantee of accommodation to entrant or returning postgraduates, we do try to offer accommodation to as many students as possible particularly to those who do not know the Aberdeen area.
We do not operate waiting lists.
Factors for Consideration
Hillhead Student Village is located approximately 10 minutes walk from the main University campus at King’s College. The occupants are predominantly first year entrant undergraduate students.
Elphinstone Flats and Kings Hall are predominantly occupied by postgraduate students and are both located on the main campus at King’s College.
Contract lengths
Please note that our contract length for all postgraduate accommodation is 50 weeks, both at the Hillhead Student Village and at Elphinstone Flats and Kings Hall.
Please check your contract to confirm the date you are required to move out. It is rarely possible to change this date, as all rooms are required for the new intake of incoming students at the start of the next academic year, and as such must be checked, cleaned and turned over by the University in a very short timeframe in preparation for the new occupants.
If, for academic reasons, you are seeking to extend your stay for a short period beyond your lease end date (eg an extension to a dissertation submission date, a late exam or a viva) please email studentaccomm@abdn.ac.uk as soon as possible.
We are unable to guarantee that any accommodation will be available for you, even on a temporary basis and you are strongly advised to make your own, alternative arrangements, if we are able to offer you an extension, it is likely that you will be required to move to another room.
