Biography

In September 2017 Maureen joined the Epidemiology Group to become Assistant Study Coordinator of the British Society for Rheumatology Biologics Register for Ankylosing Spondylitis (BSRBR-AS). The register launched in 2012 and closed to follow-up of the study participants in June 2018. It has been monitoring the long-term safety of biologic treatments and aims to increase our understanding of their effects on patients’ quality of life.  In September 2018 she moved to another project within the group, the British Society for Rheumatology Psoriatic Arthritis Register (BSR-PsA), which aims to explore the long term implications of Psoriatic Arthritis. Prior to this she was part of the Aberdeen Health Psychology Group (AHPG) to work on the CSO funded project "Supporting healthy snack choices in Scottish hospitals: a feasibility study" (Principal Investigator: Dr Julia Allan).  The project assessed the feasibility of a point-of-purchase intervention, to encourage healthier snack and drink choices amongst consumers, in retail and catering units within a hospital setting.

Before joining the University of Aberdeen she worked delivering health behaviour change programmes and initiatives to a wide variety of patient and client groups for NHS Grampian, the North Sea offshore oil and gas industry, and the Third Sector .
