Our vision
At the Aberdeen Centre for Research Excellence in Musculoskeletal Health (ABC-MSK), our vision is to facilitate innovative interdisciplinary clinical, research and training activities at the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian. Arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions represent an enormous socio-economic burden, and they are set to rise with the ageing population.
We seek to promote world-class research to improve diagnosis, prevention and treatment for patients with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions, and inform the provision of evidence-based high-quality care.

Who we are
ABC-MSK is led by Director Rosemary Hollick and Deputy Director Luke Farrow, and encompasses a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, academics, data scientists and patient partners working together to achieve our vision.

Our research is led by a number of collaborating academic groups across the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian.
Our collaborations
The Foresterhill Health Campus is one of the largest hospitals in Europe, and is also home to the Medical and Dental Schools and Biomedical Research Institutes of the University of Aberdeen.
Patients in NHS Grampian benefit from the close working relationship between all specialties involved in the care of musculoskeletal conditions, including the Department of Rheumatology and the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
