Biography
I am a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education and Early Childhood Care at the University of Aberdeen. My work is driven by a deep passion for play, play spaces and inclusive practice within early years and primary education. I believe that play is not only central to children's development but also a powerful tool for fostering creativity, agency and belonging.
My research focussed on playfulness in the Scottish Primary Context, exploring how playful pedagogies can support inclusive learning environments and meaningful engagement for all children. I am particularly interested in how educators can design and facilitate play experiences that honour diverse ways of communicating and learning.
Through both my teaching and research, I aim to support future practitioners in developing reflective, child-centred approaches that celebrate every child's unique strengths and potential.
