Biography

Mahmoud was appointed as a Lecturer in Law in September 2026, having previously joined the Law School as a Teaching Fellow in January 2023. His teaching and research interests are primarily situated within the field of private law, with particular expertise in Company Law, Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance Law, Commercial and Consumer Contracts, Contract Law, Delict, and Unjustified Enrichment. In addition to his academic work, Mahmoud has served as Of Counsel to international commercial law firms, providing advice on corporate transactions, governance frameworks, and best-practice corporate governance standards. 

Mahmoud holds a PhD in Law from the University of Aberdeen awarded in 2023, where his research specialised in Corporate Governance. He also holds an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Sheffield conferred upon in 2016, a Master of Private Law from the University of Tripoli, Libya in 2019, and a Bachelor of Laws and Sharia from Al-Asmarya Islamic University, Libya achieved in 2012. He is an Associate Fellow in Advance Higher Education Academy
