Biography

Louise graduated from The Robert Gordon University in 1998 with a BA in Public policy and management. 

Louise joined the unit in October 2000 as Data Manager/Secretary on the RECORD trial of calcium and vitamin D supplementation for the secondary prevention of osteoporosis-related fractures in the elderly.  Since then, Louise has worked as the data coordinator on a wide range of studies within CHaRT.

Louise's trial involvement includes MAPS (physiotherapy after prostate surgery), IQuaD  (oral hygiene and periodontal care), KAT (knee replacement developments), PHOTO (bladder cancer treatment), and THISTLE (improving intrapartum outcomes).

Current Studies

  • UK TAVI - The United Kingdom Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Trial
  • PANDOS - Pain AND Opioids after Surgery
  • EVEREST - A randomised controlled trial of renin-angiotensin system inhibition for the reduction of cardiovascular events after takotsubo cardiomyopathy

Louise has also provided significant support as a data coordinator on: C-GALL (gallstone management), PROSPECT(prolapse surgery) and FUTURE (urodynamic investigations for overactive bladder).

More recently Louise has been undertaking a secondment role to Assistant Trial Manager within CHaRT alongside her Data Coordinator role and has been working as an Assistant Trial Manager on the following trials:

  • ESTABLISH - Best Endovascular first versus Best Surgical strategy for the Treatment for Acute Limb Ischaemia
  • SIMS - Single-incision adjustable mini-slings versus standard tension-free mid-urethral slings in the management of stress urinary incontinence: a pragmatic multicentre non-inferiority randomised controlled trial

Louise is also a workstation assessor and also one of the university's first aiders.
