Biography
In 2006, I joined the University of Aberdeen as a CPD Business Development Officer within Research & Innovation. Over the years the team has grown in size and scope; now consisting of 7 members of staff and managing large-scale association conferences as well as smaller, tailored and accredited courses and events. I also collate and report the Institutional CPD returns to the funding councils, and am responsible for the line management of our administration team.
Some courses and events i've lead or am leading include:
- 2027: ECIR (European Conference on Information Retrieval - Southampton). ENOC (European Non-linear Dynamics Conference)
- 2025: CADR Summer School, Death in Scotland, EFEA, ISATT, British Society for Soil Science events
- 2024: Advanced Writing, IUTAM conference
- 2023: BICISMRM annual conference, Just Transition event
- 2022: ARP, Gaelic Translation, Menstruation Research Network events
- Ongoing since 2024: NESA funded 'Introduction to Just Transition' and 'Introduction to Renewable Energy - Hydrogen' online courses
- Ongoing since 2020: ECITB approved 'Introduction to Offshore Decommissioning' course which runs frequently throughout the year both online and in-person
Prior to the University, I worked as a Lecturer with Aberdeen College (now NESCOL) teaching Communication, Marketing and various computer and ECDL related modules. I worked as a Vocational Assessor for those studying Administration and Management to degree level for Protocol Skills and Protocol National. My career started at OPITO where I took an interest in training, competencies and standards development.
I am a Type-1 Diabetic, and mum of 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls) which takes up most of my time and energy, as well as my love for running which is my peaceful and quiet time.

I am a member of AHEP (Association of Higher Education Professionals - previously the AUA) having studied their PgCert in Higher Education Administration, Management and Leadership with a particular focus on student finance, change management and reflective learning.
In my spare time, I am a running coach and a member of the Scottish Athletics.
