Biography

Prior to starting at the University of Aberdeen I undertook at BSc Hons degree and worked in temporary jobs and volunteering opportunities in the Conservation and Ecology Sector. While completing my Masters Degree at the University of Aberdeen in 2021. I discovered my passion for marine biology and in particular molluscs through completing my Masters project in the Sleight Lab with Dr Vicky Sleight. During my time in the lab, I also undertook Histology and Microscopy work for the first time and discovered an interest for working with cells, Histological techniques and Microscopes.

I originally started at the University of Aberdeen in September 2021 as a Student Demonstrator on a causal basis helping in undergraduate courses after graduating from the University of Aberdeen.

In August 2022, I was a Museum Assistant for the summer to help the museums and special collections team with the opening of the Zoology Museum to the public during the summer holidays. I was one of the team that helped to greet the visitors and manage the visitor numbers in the museum. This is a role which I still do on a causal basis e.g. during the school holidays.

In October 2022, I secured a position at the University's Institute of Medical Sciences as a Technician in the Aquatic Research Unit which researches the species Xenopus Laevis and Xenopus Tropicalis and Zebra Fish (Dario Rerio).

Following this role in April 2023, I secured a role in the Microscopy and Histology Core Facility at the Institute of Medical Sciences as a Microscopy and Histology Technician.
