Biography
Claire is a research fellow in the Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation (ACE). She is currently involved in the BOOST project applying behavioural science to develop methods to improve the design and conduct of clinical trials
Prior to joining ACE she worked as a Social Researcher within the MAT standards Implementation and Support Team (MIST) in Public Health Scotland. From 2014-2024 Claire worked within the Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (NMAHP) Research Unit at Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Stirling, working initially as a reviewer on a number of different evidence syntheses. Subsequently, within NMAHP (now the Centre for Healthcare and Community Research (CHeCR)) she worked on an MRC funded project, the BiCEP study, to develop a text message intervention to help lay-people continue to feel confident and able to carry out CPR and as a research fellow on the NIHR funded Game of Stones trial which investigated the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a text message intervention with and without financial incentives for men living with obesity.
Claire’s research interests relate to the translation of research evidence into real-world practice and the application of psychological theory to understand and improve the lives of those living with long-term health conditions and obesity as well as retention in clinical trials. She has a particular interest in understanding the influence of participant-researcher relationships as a mechanism of action.
