About

Biography

I originally trained as a secondary school teacher of modern languages, before moving into adult education and teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. After a few years working in France, I returned to the UK and led the ESOL team at HMP Wandsworth in London. More recently, I've just returned from New Zealand, where I've been living since 2007, initially working in Foundation programmes at a university in Auckland, and then moving into Learning & Teaching Development at Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin (in the south of the South Island). My research interests are primarily in teaching excellence (what does that look like in practice?) and teacher development.
