Biography

I am based in the University's award-winning Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation (ACE, formerly HSRU) as Centre Business Manager. In this role, I ensure the smooth running of all of the Centre's business processes, including staff contracts, financial management, grants costings and applications, and grant extensions, and assisting the Centre Director with the development and implementation of the Centre strategy.

As of January 2025, I also spend two days per week as Institute Administration Manager for the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), along with my colleague Sharon Gordon. In these roles, myself and Sharon have responsibility for supporting a broader cohort of staff across the Institute and across a range of issues including research, teaching, HR, resources and PPIE.

Before moving to HSRU, I was the University's Head of Strategic Planning. In this role, I had responsibility for development, negotiation and agreement of the University's Outcome Agreement with the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and for development of delivery mechanisms against the University's Strategic Plan. I was also the institutional contact for the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and lead contact with a range of external bodies including the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and the SFC.

Prior to moving to Aberdeen, I held a broad range of roles with universities in London and the North East of England as well as spending time in the Further Education sector working for a national FE awarding body, firstly as a qualification developer and then as Publications Executive.

My personal academic background (now fairly dormant!) is in late 17th and early 18th century (Early Modern) English literature, with a side interest in early 20th century modernism and additional interests in music and performing arts.

In my spare time I run a small jewellery and music business, making custom and bespoke pieces of jewellery, running jewellery-making workshops and arranging and teaching music.
