Inspiring the next generation of psychologists

More than 150 school pupils and teachers from across Scotland were welcomed to the University of Aberdeen last week to attend the School of Psychology's first ever Scottish Schools Psychology Conference.

From Inverness to Perth, pupils travelled to the King’s College campus in Old Aberdeen on Wednesday 5 November to get inspired about psychology and gain insight into the work and research being carried out at the University.

The conference consisted of a keynote speech delivered by Head of School Dr Doug Martin, engaging workshops, a roundtable discussion and Q&A opportunities with School staff.

Workshops covered a broad range of topics including psychology in the courtroom, facial perception, personalities and applying psychology to everyday scenarios.

Dr Martin said: “The School of Psychology was delighted to welcome more than 150 pupils and teachers from across Scotland to the University for a day of talks, interactive workshops, and Q&A.

“We received exceptionally positive feedback about the conference from those taking part. The success of the event is testament to the effort and dedication of colleagues from across the School who worked hard to make it an engaging day for all who attended.

“We are always excited to showcase the opportunities available at Aberdeen for those looking to study psychology at university and are already looking ahead to planning the next conference for 2026!”
