Professor Steve Bruce of Aberdeen's Department of Sociology has been awarded the Saltire Society’s prize for the best history book of the year for Scottish Gods: Religion in Scotland 1900-2011. The judges commended the book’s ability to render complex historical detail into a fascinating read. In his acceptance speech Steve Bruce thanked the Scottish Historical Review trust for sponsoring the prize, the Saltire Society for organizing the event, the judges for having been so generous in their commendation and everyone at Edinburgh University Press.
