Epidemiology group PhD student presented with the top abstract award

Abimbola Ayorinde, a 3rd year student in the Epidemiology group, was recently presented with the top abstract award for her work “The Epidemiology of Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women” at The International Pelvic Pain Society Annual Meeting, held in Chicago, USA in October 2014.

The meeting was attended by healthcare providers, researchers and some patients from around the world. It was designed to provide attendees with information about new findings in science and clinical research on chronic pelvic pain.

Abimbola was given the opportunity to make a podium presentation of her research which describes the findings of a population-based study conducted to determine how common is chronic pelvic pain and what features are associated with its report.

Abimbola holds an IAHS PhD studentship and she previously won an award for the best presentation at the 3rd year IAHS PhD symposium.
