University of Aberdeen partners with Lonely Planet to launch student guide

The University of Aberdeen has teamed up with Lonely Planet Client Solutions to create an exclusive new travel guide showcasing what the Granite City has to offer students.

Study Aberdeen is only the second University guide in the UK to be created by the leading global travel information provider.

100,000 copies of the guide have been printed and will be distributed throughout the UK and internationally to prospective students and applicants.

From culture and sport to entertainment and shopping, the guide depicts the full spectrum of activities and events which await those thinking about undertaking their studies at the University.

Rachel Sandison, Head of Student Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Aberdeen said: "Collaborating with a high profile global brand like Lonely Planet is a fantastic opportunity for the University of Aberdeen and we are delighted with the resulting guide that truly showcases all that Aberdeen has to offer for students.

"Market research by the University has shown the city always exceeds the expectations of the students who choose to come and study here.  This guide provides a vital tool to give a vibrant overview of Aberdeen to students before they even visit.

"From cultural highlights and information about Aberdeen's diverse geography of sea and city, through to tips on where to eat, relax or get active, Study Aberdeen provides prospective students and applicants with an essential rundown of every element of life in Aberdeen, which the guide has deemed the 'Silver City'.

"The guide also includes crucial information on the University alongside first hand insights from students currently studying at the institution."

Lonely Planet's B2B Product Manager, Matt Gibbs said: "We're delighted to be working with The University of Aberdeen. Study Aberdeen is a unique guide which provides a real insight into what university life will be like and includes content which is both comprehensive and inspiring to encourage students to explore their city."
