Our team behind a pioneering geothermal feasibility pilot study to unlock the heat beneath our feet discussed their research with His Majesty the King during his visit to the North-east.
Professor Clare Bond and Dr Dave Cornwell who co-lead the Aberdeen Geothermal Feasibility Project, along with Tristan Roberts - a PhD student working on the project discussed the various elements of the project with the His Majesty the King.
Dr Cornwell said: "His Majesty said he was aware of our project and that he was fascinated by “hot rocks” and the engineering solutions to delivering geothermal!
“King Charles has a connection with geothermal investigations at Balmoral (that Clare Bond was involved with previously) and asked about temperatures required to make a difference and how heat networks could help. He also talked to Tristan about his PhD work and submitting his thesis.”
