The University of Aberdeen has been named among the recipients of a landmark national investment which will strengthen the UK's medical research workforce.
More than 600 researchers at universities across all four nations of the UK will be supported through 14 MRC Doctoral Landscape Awards (DLA)s. Over the next three years, the University of Aberdeen will support 15 researchers to undertake PhDs while gaining experience across academia, healthcare and industry. The first cohort will begin in October 2027.
The award will offer the PhD researchers cutting-edge training in areas shaping the future of medicine including data science, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship, alongside opportunities to collaborate with industry, NHS organisations, charities and public sector partners. These experiences will help students translate scientific discoveries into real-world advances in early diagnosis, advanced therapies and precision prevention.
