The University of Aberdeen was delighted to welcome around 70 representatives from partner institutions across Europe, North America and Australia as part of a Partner Visit programme, ahead of the 2026 European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference in Glasgow.
Organised jointly with Robert Gordon University, the visit provided an opportunity to showcase higher education in the north-east of Scotland, strengthen international partnerships, and facilitate the sharing of good practice in student mobility and international education.
The programme began on Sunday with a guided tour of Aberdeen, introducing delegates to key landmarks across the city, including both universities. The group was then welcomed to Aberdeen Town House for a civic reception hosted by Councillor Christian Allard on behalf of Aberdeen City Council, celebrating the international partnerships represented within the group and Aberdeen's longstanding international outlook.
On Monday, 40 delegates visited the University of Aberdeen for a programme hosted by the Go Abroad team. The day included practice-sharing sessions on supporting incoming and outgoing exchange students, a tour of the historic Old Aberdeen campus, a campus services fair, a Doric language workshop, and visits to academic Schools and University Collections. Partners also had the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the University, exchange ideas, and discuss future opportunities for collaboration.
The event brought together both long-standing and newer partners from across the University's global network, demonstrating the importance of international collaboration in creating transformative opportunities for students and strengthening connections between institutions worldwide. Among the institutions represented was the University of Zurich, the University's longest-standing exchange partner, with 88 years of exchange activity.
