Professor John Speakman from the University of Aberdeen's School of Biological Sciences has been elected as a foreign member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Foreign membership of the Polish Academy of Sciences is awarded to internationally recognised researchers whose outstanding scientific achievements and close cooperation with the Polish research community make a significant contribution to the advancement of science. The distinction also supports efforts to enhance Poland’s position within the global research landscape and foster stronger international partnerships in research and innovation.
Professor Speakman said: “It is a real delight to be awarded this honour by the Polish national academy.
“I have worked extensively with Polish colleagues through the whole of my career, with more than 50 papers with Polish co-authors.
“I look forward to going to the Academy and meeting their President Marek Konarzewski to pick up the election certificate.”
