On 19 September, the AUCEL convened academics and srudents for a book launch of Offshore Energy Law: Challenges and Opportunities for Renewables and Hydrocarbons out now with Hart Publishing
With a full room in person and mrore participants across the globe joining online, the launch represented a true international collaboration this book brought. We started with an introduction by two of the the book's co-editors Dr. Eddy Lenusira Wifa and Prof. Ignacio Herrera Anchustegui (University of Bergen). The following section was led by discussants, our own Prof. Greg Gordon and .Prof Olivia Woolley (University of Durham)who provided extensive comments on individual chapters and the volume as a whole.
The running themes today were the differences between oil&gas and offshore renewables in risk/reward profiles, environmental and social impacts, health and safety considerations - coupled with the need to make law and regulation more proactive rather than playing catch up. Participants also consideredabout the special circumstances in the Global South including energy infrastructure regulation and local content. The launch was concluded with a networking lunch, we thank everyone who could join us on the day.
