The University of Aberdeen has renewed its deal with Scottish Cup winners Aberdeen FC to remain the club's Official Education Supporter.

In addition to several marketing benefits, the partnership will allow four students the opportunity to take on paid work placements at the club.

The club will also host a number of educational sessions for business and sports science students throughout the year, where members of AFC’s commercial department will give them real-world insights into operating a top-level professional football club and its associated activities.

Professor Peter Edwards, Vice-Principal for Regional Engagement at the University said: “Aberdeen FC and the University of Aberdeen’s histories have intertwined at various times ever since the football club was established and we’re delighted to continue to work in partnership with them.

“This agreement offers a number of excellent opportunities for our business and sports science students to learn from the club’s commercial team and even the chance for a handful to engage in unique and invaluable paid work experience internships.”

“We’re delighted to confirm the renewal of our highly successful partnership with the University of Aberdeen”, said Gary Herbert, Business Development Manager at Aberdeen FC.

“Our affiliation with the University has been a cornerstone in our outreach within the local community and continues to serve as the perfect example of the positive impact a collaborative approach to education can have.

“Many of our objectives continue to align as we both strive to raise the aspirations of young people, and we hope the new work placements and education sessions will be well received by the students.

“We look forward to continuing to build on this strong foundation, creating real opportunities for student and fans alike.”
