Issues in Arctic Food Sovereignty Seminar on 17th January 2025

Presentations were given by several international scholars in KQF2, King's Quad at the University of Aberdeen about their work in Japan, Nunavut, Siberia and Scotland. Followed by Q&A. All were welcome.

The University of Aberdeen was delighted to welcome all to hear more around Arctic Food Sovereignty issues during the afternoon of Friday, 17th January 2025 from 14:00hrs to 16:00hrs.

A most special welcome was given in appreciation of the visiting scholars from the Hitotsubashu University in Japan, with presentations from the following:

  • Professor Jun Akamine – Hitotsubashi University
  • Jay Alabaster – Arizona State University
  • Professor David G. Anderson – University of Aberdeen
  • Dr Peter Loovers – University of Aberdeen
  • Kaito Matsuuro – Hitotsubashi University
  • Dr Nancy Wachowich – University of Aberdeen
  • Elizabeth Windisch – University of Aberdeen

Find out more about IFSNu. Inuksiutit: Food Sovereignty in Nunavut and the co-production of country food knowledge (IFSNu). Inuksiutit is a word in the Inuit language often used to refer to food from the land 'country food'. It translates as: that which makes us human.
