J. Michael T. Thompson, FRS, has received the Lyapunov Award, 2013.
Professor Thompson has been recognised by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for his lifelong contribution to the field of nonlinear dynamics.
The Lyapunov award recognises the impact of research contributions, education and training of researchers and practitioners, and overall leadership in advancing the field.
Professor Thompson has been a part-time Sixth Century Chair in Theoretical & Applied Dynamics in the University's School of Engineering since 2006.
