Elphinstone Institute staff were honoured to meet Her Majesty The Queen on Monday, 20 January as part of an official visit to the University of Aberdeen. Patron of the Elphinstone Institute, the Very Reverend Professor Sir Iain Torrance, kindly introduced us to Her Majesty who then congratulated staff on the Institute's 30th anniversary. She expressed sincere interest in our research, teaching, public and community engagement work to do with traditional culture in the North-East and beyond. Her Majesty also told us how fond she is of fiddle music and she was enthusiastic to learn about our upcoming North Atlantic Fiddle Convention 2026.
