On March 21st, the first faculty seminar jointly organized by South China Normal University (SCNU) Aberdeen Institute and University of Aberdeen (UoA) was held successfully, focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Faculty from SCNU and UoA shared their research and project developments, with over 20 participants including SCNU/UoA faculty and student representatives attending onsite and six UoA professors/doctors attending online.Dr. Binod Bhattarai from UoA and Prof. Shaoming Chai from SCNU jointly introduced the seminar's background and objectives, as well as the theme of the first seminar. Dr. Aiden Durrant from UoA presented his work on "Hyperspherical Regularized Neural Networks for Self-Supervised Learning", and Dr. Guojing Zhou from SCNU shared his research on "Generating Teaching Decision Schemes with Hierarchical Reinforcement Learning". All participants raised in-depth discussions and questions, particularly around the two shared presentations, sparking interest in potential collaborative research.The seminar was deemed as a success, meeting its intended goals, with faculty from both universities eager to further their academic exchange and collaboration.
