University of Aberdeen's Research Facilities Showcase returns

University of Aberdeen's Research Facilities Showcase returns

Businesses looking to find out how they can tap into the University of Aberdeen's world class research facilities and expertise are being invited to attend an information-sharing event on April 19.

The half-day interdisciplinary Research Facilities Showcase will take place at the Science Teaching Hub building at Old Aberdeen, bringing together researchers from across the University for an exhibition of the state-of-the-art research facilities they operate in.

Open to commercial enterprises as well as other universities and research institutions, it seeks to provide information on the cutting-edge research facilities based in the region and how to access them.

Exhibitor stands include research facilities spanning many disciplines from digital technology to medical nutrition, with facilities such as the School of Chemistry's Biotechnology and Biosciences Research Council-funded, high-resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) system which is optimised for the analysis of small molecules, to the Aberdeen University Geophysical Equipment Repository , which is a suite of geophysical equipment available for research or commercial projects.

The event has been organised by volunteers from the University’s Research Facilities working group.

Co-organiser Jade McGowan said: “For the past couple of years I've collaborated with Dr Alex Brasier and Dr Debbie Wilkinson to organise the annual Research Facilities Showcase and I'm thrilled to see the event thriving.

“Our objective is to spotlight the University of Aberdeen's extensive array of top-tier facilities, accessible not only to our internal researchers but also to those from external research institutions and commercial enterprises.

“This event offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with highly skilled professionals, gaining insights into their equipment, expertise and knowledge, and discovering how you can leverage these resources for your upcoming projects.”
