Interdisciplinary Open Sessions Day

Interdisciplinary Open Sessions Day

The Aberdeen Centre for Health Data Science is an interdisciplinary group of researchers with a range of backgrounds such as health sciences, medicine, sociology, engineering, and computing.

Even this diverse group doesn’t often get the chance to attend talks on food anthropology, or art history and glaciology. At the “Interdisciplinary Open Sessions Day”, we got the chance to meet the new Interdisciplinary Fellows from across the University, and hear about their exciting research plans.

One of these Fellows, Milan Markovic, is working with the Centre as part of his research on data provenance, a project funded by DARE UK.

In addition, the team presented two posters: Katie Wilde on the Safe Haven Artificial Intelligence Platform, and Krzys Adamczyk on the Aberdeen Children of the 1950s.

Other highlights of the day were a roundtable Q&A with the five Interdisciplinary Directors, examples of interdisciplinary groups such as the Human-Centred AI Network, and a keynote from Professor Donna Hancox, Queensland University of Technology, an expert on creative practice and social impact.

As more Interdisciplinary Fellows join the University, our Centre looks forward to welcoming them, sharing our expertise and interests, and sparking novel collaborations.
