A leading educationalist at the University of Aberdeen has been seconded to the Scottish Government.
Cathy Macaslan, Vice Principal for Learning and Teaching, has been appointed Policy Adviser on education policy at national level.
The former Head of the University's School of Education has become Policy Adviser to the Director General, Education and Life Long Learning.
Professor C Duncan Rice, Principal and Vice Chancellor at the University, said: "We are confident that Cathy Macaslan, who has had great achievements at the University, will make a tremendous impact and also be an asset to ourselves and other institutions across the country.
"The University of Aberdeen is delighted that another one of its senior figures is advising the Scottish Government with policy development."
Ms Macaslan already holds Government appointments to the General Teaching Council for Scotland and to the Literacy Commission. Her secondment runs for a year.
