Cancer scientist gives research overview

An award winning University of Aberdeen breast cancer researcher will give an insight into his work at a gathering tomorrow (Saturday, September 27) of cancer workers.

Dr Andy Schofield is one of two guest speakers at the two day Scottish Conference of Cancer Support Groups which is an opportunity for members to learn about developments in cancer research and treatment, to discuss issues of common concern, and to share techniques which will improve quality of life.

Understanding cancer: Today's research, tomorrow's cures is the title of Dr Schofield's talk which will look at the potential causes of cancer.

With the use of giant jenga, a remote controlled car, juggling and dancing flowers, the talk will also explore what makes a cell cancerous and the need for personalised treatment to tackle the disease.

Consumer journalist Lynn Faulds Wood, who contracted bowel cancer at the age of 40 and has also had skin cancer, is the other guest speaker who was addressing the conference today
