High fliers boost breast cancer funds

Four high fliers from the Buchan area have boosted breast cancer research funds after leaping from the skies.

The four – Sheona Barclay and her 22-year-old daughter Kim, together with Graham Watson and Kevin Davidson - who all work at B&Q in Peterhead took part in a sponsored skydive in St Andrews in September.

And their endeavours raised £3,000 which will now go towards leading breast cancer research underway at the University of Aberdeen.

Sheona, who organised the team's charity efforts, picked the cause. She explained: "I was keen for it to go to breast cancer research because my mother-in-law had the disease last year. Thankfully she is fine now."

Breast cancer researcher Dr Andy Schofield is meeting the workmates tomorrow afternoon at B&Q to receive a cheque.

Kim Barclay makes her descentHe said: "We are absolutely delighted that Sheona and her daughter and friends leapt out of the skies to raise money for such an important cause. Donations like their one are absolutely invaluable to researchers.

"The money they raised will help support ongoing research to establish why chemotherapy works for some women but unfortunately doesn't for others.

"The foursome can rest assured that their money is helping to further the fight against breast cancer."
