History and technology link up at King’s

State-of-the-art audio visual equipment is adding a modern edge to the historic conference and event facilities at the University of Aberdeen.

Located within the King’s Conference Centre, the King’s Auditorium has always been a unique conference venue, benefiting from historic architecture and surroundings.

Now, as well as enjoying the view, delegates can reap the benefits of innovative digital technology with the installation of a new audio visual system - believed to be the first of its kind to be installed anywhere in the region.

All desks within King’s Auditorium now feature individual microphones and allow delegates to register a request to speak, simply listen to the speaker or cast a vote. The voting function enables interactive conferences and allows speakers to analyse opinion quickly and effectively. The voting buttons allow parliamentary, multiple choice, or audience response voting to take place. Voting results are then instantly sent to a video display on the speakers’ raised frontal area.

Stephanie Millar, Sales & Marketing Manager at the University of Aberdeen Conference & Event Office said the new equipment would add real advantage to the Auditorium’s position in the marketplace: “The new system will bring flexible management facilities to all types of conferences, from small informal gatherings to international congresses.

“The equipment provides versatility, high audio quality and secure digital transmission, while providing complete control over conference proceedings.

“We believe this type of system is unique to the Aberdeen conference and event market and we are very excited with the interest it has generated to date, as well as the future opportunities it will create.”

King’s Auditorium seats up to 147 delegates, with extra space available in the balcony area. Additional rooms are also available within the King’s Conference Centre, ideal for breakout sessions or for the smaller meeting.
