MSc in Sustainability Transitions a finalist in the Green Gown Awards

The MSc in Sustainability Transitions programme run by the Department of Geography & Environment has made it to the final of the Green Gown Awards (UK & Ireland) – a famous annual competition managed by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC).

The programme has been nominated in the Tomorrow’s Employees Category, highlighting the contribution the programme makes to training, educating and promoting future sustainability leaders – the next generation of professionals, thinkers and innovators who have the passion and ambition to deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and make the world a more sustainable place.

Winners in each category will be announced at the final Awards Ceremony on 8th November at Loughborough University. The MSc ST is one of the seven remaining contenders, shortlisted from a vast number of applications.

The MSc ST Programme Director, Dr Piotr Niewiadomski, said:

“This is excellent news that reflects the enormous amount of work which each individual teaching on this programme invested in making it a special, innovative and unique MSc option for all those students who care about the Earth and want to foster our transition to sustainability. I’m delighted to see that our mission to deliver the next generation of sustainability leaders is acknowledged and appreciated by such a renowned body as EAUC. It is a dearly welcomed reassurance for all of us that we equip our students with the knowledge and skills which employers seek and that our students are well placed to make a concrete positive social and environmental impact.”

The PGT Director for the School of Geosciences, Dr David R. Green, added:

“This is very well deserved and a great opportunity for the programme and demonstrates the strength and relevance of the School of Geosciences portfolio of PGT programmes.”
