On 11th May 2021, Dr. Eddy Lenusira Wifa and Prof John Paterson participated with selected experts in a workshop on "Health and Safety Research in Offshore Renewable Energy" organised by the Health and Safety Executive and the Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub. With the rapid growth of the offshore wind industry and other marine renewable energy resources in UK waters, the workshop was designed to "bring together stakeholders from across academia, industry, government, and regulators in order to identify and discuss health and safety research priorities". Based on previous and ongoing research on the subject, both Eddy and John suggested to participants that there are valuable lessons to be drawn from the hydrocarbon industry’s health and safety experience in terms of regulatory models
