Message to students issued March 23
Dear student,
In recent days some members of our University community have been the subject of direct and personal messages containing racist abuse. This is wholly unacceptable, and we are sending this message to provide reassurance that the University will always take action where racism occurs.
Our University strives to be open, welcoming, diverse and inclusive and any acts of harassment, bullying, violence or targeted hate are unacceptable. We know the overwhelming majority of our community would never participate in such behaviour.
Our Report and Support tool can be used by anyone wanting to report an incident that has taken place, whether it has happened to you or someone you know. We take all reports very seriously and will provide all available support and advice to those affected, in line with the circumstances and their individual wishes.
If you would prefer to speak to someone in our Student Support team, you can arrange a meeting with a Student Support Adviser by emailing student.support@abdn.ac.uk.
Alternatively, you can speak to the Wellbeing Advisor at AUSA Advice by emailing ausaadvice@abdn.ac.uk.
You can also visit GREC - Grampian Regional Equality Council Counselling website here.
Best wishes
