UK POAM Best Practice Guide Training Workshops delivered by Dr Trimmings and Dr Momoh

UK POAM Best Practice Guide Training Workshops delivered by Dr Trimmings and Dr Momoh

On 15 and 17 December 2020, Dr Katarina Trimmings and Dr Onyoja Momoh organised and delivered training at the UK Training workshop based on the POAM Best Practice Guide (“Protection of Abducting Mothers in Return Proceedings: Domestic Violence and Parental Child Abduction”) on the protection of abducting mothers in return proceedings involving allegations of domestic violence. This was the first opportunity to consider the newly published Guide on protective measures with a strong focus on the utility of the 1996 Hague Convention. Attendance at the workshop provided invaluable insight into the work of the POAM research project thus far, its findings, as well as the relevance of the Protection Measures Regulation in spite of the UK exit from the EU. The Best Practice Guide is aimed at ensuring that relevant professionals are trained in confronting issues around the protection of abducting mothers in child abductions committed against the background of domestic violence of the. An Executive Summary of the Guide is also available, as are further updates on the continuing work of POAM project on the website.
